Salary rises 'point to property hotspots'

Areas where salaries are increasing rapidly could become property hotspots in the future.

Areas where workers are witnessing the largest salary increases across Australia are being highlighted as those places that will likely see the greatest increase in value over the coming years.

This is among findings of the latest Housing Boom and Bust Report from SQM Research.

Louise Christopher, founder of SQM Research and author of the report, told Australian Property Investor that examining salaries across Australia could be a valuable tool in determining which areas of the country are likely to witness a property boom in the future.

She commented: "Recent developments in the suburbs surrounding and making up Brisbane's CBD have encouraged well-paid individuals to reside in these localities, pushing industrial-based activities to other parts of [Brisbane] and driving up income growth in the area."

Meanwhile, Rismark International chief executive officer Ben Skilbeck also recently told the publication that the country's eight state capitals are leading the charge for a sustained valuation recovery in the property sector at present.
