According to figures published this month by Currency UK, three-quarters of Brits have considered leaving the UK, up from 25 per cent in the 2005 survey by the foreign exchange firm.
Australia topped the list for those potentially making a move abroad, favoured by a third of those questioned.
Research by NatWest has also revealed that current British expats think they have a better quality of life abroad, with 90 per cent saying they are financially secure and more than half saying that in five years' time they will be better off than they would have been in Britain.
