The development of infrastructure within New South Wales (NSW) has been set out in a new release from the NSW government.
Urban Taskforce Australia chief executive officer Chris Johnson told Australian Property Investor that the State Infrastructure Strategy announcement aims to deliver significant benefits to Sydneysiders in particular in the coming years.
It includes plans for the WestConnex project, aimed at improving connections between the M4 and M5 to help commuters from western Sydney gain better access to the city centre.
Mr Johnson commented: "Communities will need to see a positive future for their neighbourhoods as a trade-off for the new infrastructure. They'll also need to take a 'whole of city' approach to change."
He added that the proposed rail extension towards Maroubra will also provide greater access to Sydney for some of the least densely populated areas of the state.
The news follows a recent report from Australian Financial Review highlighting an upturn in Sydney's property sector, with auction clearance rates standing above the 60 per cent mark on a regular basis in the state capital.
