A natural disaster has been declared in the flood-hit areas of New South Wales, where many Australian properties have been damaged.

Emergency services minister Steve Whan said the outback towns of Goodooga and Wanaaring are now isolated and evacuation orders remain for the Weilmoringle and Goodooga Reserve communities.

More than 120 rural Australian homes are also isolated and flood levels are continuously monitored, he continued.

"This natural disaster declaration means that a range of people who have suffered property damage from these floods, including residents, farmers, business owners and councils, can seek assistance," Mr Whan said.

The full extent of the flood damage will only be known as the water recedes, he continued.

Australian home owners at risk of flooding are advised to prepare an emergency kit containing items such as a portable radio, torch, important papers and adequate clothing, food and drink for evacuation.
