Holiday property owners 'foresee economic improvements'

Holiday property owners in Australia have predicted economic improvements over the next year.
Individuals who own a holiday property in Australia have predicted economic improvements in the country within the next 12 months.

According to the Coolum and North Shore News, 30 per cent of homes owned by holidaymakers were occupied between the months of April and June this year.

The figures, acquired as part of a Stayz Group Accomodation Index, also revealed a hint of optimism about the country's future, despite the current economic climate.

In addition, 38 per cent of participants believe that the country's financial situation and trading conditions would improve slightly or by a significant amount in the next year.

Kirsty Shaw, Stayz Group's general manager, said: "The Australian tourism market has been impacted by a number of factors recently, including destructive weather, a high Australian dollar and poor global economic conditions … but property manager sentiment is positive."

Yesterday (August 23rd), the South Australian Tourism Commission's regional tourism specialist team appointed a regional marketing manager in a bid to reverse declining visitor numbers.
