The Australian prime minister has made it clear that the strength of the economy shouldn't be doubted.
In a speech to the Australian Davos Connection Future Summit Julia Gillard discussed what the nation has to offer China, making it clear that Australia isn't trying to extend itself beyond its capabilities.
"We are not, indeed we have never been, simply a quarry or a beach; ours is a diverse and sophisticated economy and a valued trading partner with the biggest global economies," she said.
Compared to other nations, Australia has emerged relatively unscathed from the global financial crisis, making it an attractive spot for investors.
This has been seen in the property market in particular, which escaped the lows experienced in the US and many European nations.
Ms Gillard's statements are a clear sign that people should have confidence in the stability of Australia, both on a domestic and international scale.
