Australian movie star Chris Hemsworth is set to be the face of a new advertising campaign for Tourism Australia.
The actor has signed up to be part of the company's There's Nothing Like Australia campaign, which focuses on the country's coasts and aquatic experiences, reports ABC Online. This advertising strategy incidentally falls in line with Tourism Australia's marketing campaign to promote the Great Barrier Reef and the surrounding marine life.
Speaking on Hemsworth's involvement in the campaign, Tourism Australia's managing director John Sullivan said that the actor would be "an authentic Australian voice to tell the country's story globally".
Mr Sullivan was keen to impress that the country itself would be the star of any adverts, but Hemsworth's global recognition and citizenship would bring gravitas to the company's campaign.
He continued: "Chris truly embodies the Australian way of life and his love of his home country, with all its natural beauty, makes him an ideal ambassador [of this campaign]".
Hemsworth does seem like the perfect celebrity to be the face of the campaign, as he has recently moved back to Australia with his family.
Similarly, he has grown up in and around water from surfing on Phillip Island to fishing in the Northern Territory of Australia.
The actor has stated that Australia is full of "incredible natural beauty" and expressed his excitement at being a part of this campaign for tourism. Tourism Australia has said that the new campaign will launch on Australia Day Eve in America.
Speaking on the beginning of the campaign, Hemsworth said: "I'm really looking forward to launching this new campaign in New York and sharing with the rest of the world just how amazing this country really is."
