Australian property in Cairns is set to experience a rebound and significant price growth in 2010-11, it has been claimed.

Property along the Cairns beaches region will attract particularly high interest from Australian property investors within the country and overseas, according to Raine and Horne.

The firm is opening a new office in the region to take advantage of the growing confidence in the area's property prospects.

Raine and Horne's chief executive officer Stephen Sharry said: "We have a high interest in fully covering the Cairns region and expanding into the Cairns beaches area is a particularly important step because of the lifestyle it promises as well as the attraction from investors."

Property company Property Frontiers' head of research Christopher Chadd yesterday claimed that the Australian property market has been an anomaly compared to other western markets during the downturn, having avoided dramatic price falls in major cities.
