Australia is top-rated travel destination for 2016

American travel magazines Travel + Leisure, Afar and Departures have all said that Australia is one of the hottest places to visit next year, reports the Tourism Australia website.

The leading tourism information website in Australia said that its own country currently ranks on the 'Best places to travel' list in Travel + Leisure magazine.

Sights to be seen that are featured in the magazine's top 50 list include the Margaret River, Tasmania and Adelaide.

Afar magazine also chose Tasmania as one of the top three places that travellers should add to their must-see lists in 2016. This particular magazine only had a top ten list, further highlighting Tasmania as a place that you should make visiting a top priority.

Ranking in the top 100 places to visit in Departures magazine was the Great Barrier Reef, which is currently benefitting from being a part of Australia's new $40 million marine marketing campaign.

The Great Barrier Reef is currently generating a lot of extra traction too, thanks to the filming of a new Sir David Attenborough documentary in the area. The documentary is to be aired globally in late December, and is expected to generate a large amount of tourism and economic growth in Australia.

Australia's Margaret River has been named as the country's largest area with top-level restaurants by Travel + Leisure magazine. Meanwhile the magazine claims that the Pumphouse Point in Tasmania is just about as beautifully remote as any place can be.

Pumphouse Point is located on Lake St Clair in the central highlands of Australia, it's the country's deepest lake and forms part of the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park.

Travel + Leisure magazine states that you should travel to Adelaide if only for its Botanic Park, which will be home to WOMADelaide music festival this March. 2016 marks the 20th year of the festival and sees more than 30 countries perform across seven stages with music and in-conversation sessions that are to be enjoyed by all ages.
