The value of total engineering construction work done in Australia rose by three per cent in the final quarter of 2010, in trend terms, a report has revealed.
Published by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the report also shows that, in seasonally adjusted terms, the increase was much higher for the period, at 8.6 per cent.
This brought the total value of engineering construction work done in Australia in the last three months of 2010 to $21.58 billion (£13.72 billion).
The trend estimate for the value of work done for the private sector increased by 5.3 per cent in the December quarter.
In seasonally adjusted terms, the rise was 10.7 per cent, bringing the value to $14.13 billion.
The trend estimate for the value of work done for the public sector fell by 0.3 per cent in the December quarter, but rose by 4.9 per cent in seasonally adjusted terms.
Last month, a report from the Australian Bureau of Statistics showed that the production of certain materials used in the construction of property in Australia increased significantly from January to February.
