Valuations present many variables

It might not always prove easy for Australian homeowners to estimate how much their property is really worth, an expert suggests.
People looking to gauge the value of their Australian homes might find that it is hard for them to make decent estimates, according to one commentator.

Speaking to Your Mortgage, the Mastering the Australian Housing Market author, John Lindeman, pointed out that each individual property is different and this is why the process of estimating values can sometimes turn out to be difficult.

Discussing the potential reasons behind value differences, he stated: "Even two identical houses in the same street will have difference prices, and two adjoining units in the same block will sell for different amounts, because one has a better view."

Mr Lindeman also told the news provider that it might be worthwhile for people to read up on things like free property price research when they come to try and value their homes.

Upon its publication earlier in the year, Mastering the Australian Housing Market was given the Book of the Month accolade by Money magazine.
