A record number of families in Birmingham, England, are leaving the city and investing in Australian property, it has been claimed.
The Sunday Mercury reports that Birmingham has become an "emigration hotspot" as people living there look to move to warmer climes.
"Australia and New Zealand are two of the most popular choices to emigrate to, because of the quality of life they offer and the fact that there is still a demand for skilled British workers," said Paul Arthur, director of the Emigration Group.
He went on to say that the economies in the antipodean countries have remained "more buoyant" than that of the UK.
Mr Arthur told the newspaper that Australia has seen accelerated growth over the last quarter of the year, which has fuelled demand for skilled labour.
The Department of Immigration and Citizenship recently announced that an employment expo, titled Skills Australia Needs, will be staged in London on September 11th and 12th.
