The main incentives behind investing in Australian property have been revealed through research conducted by the Real Estate Institute of Queensland (REIQ).
Buyer and seller behaviour research carried out by the REIQ shows that the potential for future capital growth is the key incentive for investors looking to buy property.
Some 74 per cent of buyers said that capital growth was their top reason for purchasing an investment property in Queensland.
Other top reasons for investing in Australian property were to fund retirement, for negative gearing purposes and as a means of deriving an income stream.
"While Queensland has had a very tough start to 2011 it is heartening that many investors recognise the strength of our property market and the opportunities that remain for growth over the long term," said Dan Molloy, managing director at the REIQ.
Last month, Grow Consulting Group's managing director Ayda Shabanzadeh told API Magazine that the start of 2011 should provide great opportunities to purchase property in flood-affected areas for bargain prices.
