South Australia's government has published a list of the occupations that are in demand in the state.
These range from construction project manager to ships master and chiropractor to motor mechanic.
"Your occupation must be on this list and you must meet all other state sponsorship criteria. If your occupation is not on this list, it is not available for sponsorship at this time," the document containing the list states.
The government's immigration department has said it will consider sponsorships for the listed occupations until the State Migration Plan is implemented.
People who are unsure as to whether they meet the requirements can find out by visiting the Australian Skills Recognition Information website.
This details how people can get an assessment of their qualifications, skills or experience gained overseas.
State-specific licensing and registration requirements to perform each particular occupation in South Australia are also detailed on the site.
James Pearson, the chief executive of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Western Australia, told the BBC last month that the country has a number of attractive positions available for skilled workers.
