Energy efficiency investment will boost commercial Australian property prices, according to an industry expert.

In light of the proposed National Strategy on Energy Efficiency by the Australian Federal Government, the environmental impact of Australian property is set to become an even more important consideration for investors, claims Harvest Affordable Eco-living.

Managing director of the commercial efficiency product distributor Jensen Farley has indicated that improving the energy efficiency of Australian property will give entrepreneurs a competitive advantage.

The Mandatory Disclosure of Commercial Office Building Energy Efficiency scheme is set to come into force within the next six months and may see investors rushing to improve their Australian property's NABERS energy performance rating.

He explained: "The market will very quickly start comparing the star rating of premises and using it as a key consideration in their purchase decision.

"Commercial properties are looking at ways to improve their NABERS rating using economically viable solutions."

The industry has been preparing for the introduction of the new scheme, with the Facility Management Association of Australia hosting a seminar on carbon saving in September 30th.
