Buying property is popular investment strategy

The Australian buy-to-let market is a safe choice for those looking to invest in Australian property.

Buying a second home is one of the most popular investment strategies and has a history of stability, those looking to invest in Australian property have been told.

Angus Kidman, writing for Lifehacker, has highlighted the high number of Australians who are in the process of buying their own property.

She also highlights the country's policies as a major reason why people buy second homes and offer them out to let, which she describes as a safe tactic.

Mr Kidman contrasts the Australian approach to homeownership with the attitudes across the US and much of Europe, but says that there is still demand for rental properties in the country.

"Provided you can insure your property, it still seems to be a relatively low-risk tactic," she explained.

Earlier this week, author Michael Yardney told Smart Company that investing in Australian property has the potential to be extremely profitable this year, advising that the middle-band of homes will be the most lucrative area.
