Adam Learmonth, director of Anvil Property, told Adelaide Now that the city is a defensive pick as the area's market is less volatile than many of the eastern cities.
He explained this by suggesting there could still be some clouds on the Australian property horizon.
"There's a feeling out there that prior to the GFC some of the fund managers were a bit too aggressive in their purchases, and at the moment there is more of an air of conservatism," he explained.
Mr Learmonth added that the area's strong fundamentals are playing a key role in attracting the attention of those looking at buying property in Australia.
This follows a statement by Victoria's state premier, John Bumby, who told the Age that it had grown too fast.
Figures have confirmed that Victoria's population grew by 2.2 per cent during the last financial year.
