The construction of 1,000 new Australian properties is to be completed in Western Australia (WA) by Christmas, the government has announced.
Housing minister Bill Marmion inspected one of the 1,000 new social housing properties earlier this week.
The four-bedroom home he visited was located in Dalyellup, near the western coast of the state.
Mr Marmion said it was the first property to be delivered in regional WA under stage two of the Nation Building Economic Stimulus Plan.
"Our government has worked hard to manage the variety of building programmes under the stimulus programme and this property has been delivered two months ahead of schedule," he said.
According to a statement from the government, $550 million (£345 million) will be spent in WA to construct 2,068 new homes as part of stage one and stage two of the stimulus plan.
Earlier this week, the Victorian minister for housing Richard Wynne revealed that some 1,800 affordable homes are currently being built in Victoria.
