High numbers of Australian residents have revealed they are satisfied with their lives as part of a new report carried out by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).
Results highlighted that 78 per cent of individuals over the age of 18 are happy, which marks a two per cent increase from the same questionnaire conducted in 2001.
The General Social Survey revealed that people who are married, widowed or never married were more likely to be satisfied than those who were divorced or separated.
In addition, individuals with regular contact with friends and family were happier than people with limited contact with people outside their immediate household.
The findings also highlighted that 14 million adults lived in households that had taken action to ensure they were financially stable, including creating a budget or savings.
Last month, the ABS revealed that annual population growth slowed to 1.4 per cent for the year ending in March 2011, with 22,546,300 residing in the country.
