The government's new Kickstart Apprentice programme has received the support of Master Builders Australia (MBA).
Chief executive of MBA Wilhelm Harnisch stated that the initiative will provide a significant boost to the construction industry's ability to train and develop new tradespeople and bolster the sector over the coming years, ensuring older staff are replaced with skilled and eager-to-work youngsters.
He commented: "Kickstart will help the industry boost apprentice rates to train the next generation of tradies that are necessary to meet future workforce needs of the industry."
Mr Harnisch added that the news will help to offset a prolonged downturn in capacity that has impeded the sector in recent years.
MBA also welcomed the appointment of new Australian Small Business Commissioner Mark Brennan earlier this month.
Mr Harnisch responded to the news by stating the creation of this position is an important step in developing stronger communication between small business and government that will benefit in the regulatory reform of the Australian property sector.
