The holiday season is the perfect time for people to snap up their dream home at auction, a leading property expert has claimed.
The Property Investment Professionals of Australia (PIPA) has advised those on the lookout for a home down under to keep looking at homes going under the hammer during Christmas and New Year as the reduced competition brings greater room for manoeuvre when it comes to negotiations.
"Astute property buyers and investors are still active in the property market over the Christmas and New Year break because they know some great buying opportunities can come up," says chair of PIPA Ben Kingsley.
"Most vendors will want to start the New Year with their property transactions completed which means they are often more motivated to close a deal."
Last Christmas Eve, 100 homes were sold at auction in New South Wales. The properties ranged in value from a $77,000 house in Cowra to a $5.5 million in Bronte.
