Future plans for Melbourne's Fishermans Bend published

Fishermans Bend in Melbourne is set to benefit from regeneration.

The Property Council of Australia has published a new report on future plans for the development of the Fishermans Bend area of Melbourne.

According to the report, the delivery of community infrastructure is seen as a top priority, while delivering a large amount of open space to benefit local residents is also high on the agenda for the organisation.

In addition, the area is considered a perfect site for the delivery of large amounts of social housing, while minimum height limits for all planning submissions will be enforced in order to maximise the urban renewal opportunities of Fishermans Bend.

Each of these criteria will now be used when determining applications for developers hoping to take part in the regeneration plans.

Elsewhere, developers Leighton Properties and Mirvac have worked together to create numerous new homes in Perth as part of the Perth City Link project over recent months.

"These kind of large complex projects are not just about the development delivery but also the provision of infrastructure in a staged and coordinated manner," Mark Gray, Leighton Properties managing director, and Brett Draffen, Mirvac development chief executive, told the Herald Sun.
