UK skilled workers sought by Australian employers

Next month in London, Australian employers will be looking to attract skilled UK workers who are seeking to move to property in Australia.

Australian employers will be in London next month, seeking skilled UK workers, which could appeal to those seeking work and property in Australia.

The Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) announced that the employment expo, titled Skills Australia Needs, will be staged in England's capital city on September 11th and 12th.

A spokesperson from the DIAC said that Australia is in need of those skilled in engineering, mining, medical services and other trades.

"The expo will play host to representatives from major Australian employers and governments from all Australian states and territories," they added.

"Participants will be able to find out more about possible career pathways down under," the spokesperson went on to say.

Since the DIAC's expo program started in 2005, some 23 expos have been staged, with eight of these having taken place in the UK.

Last month, the Australian newspaper reported on a National Australia Bank survey, which revealed that up to nine per cent of houses for sale next year will be bought by expats purchasing property in Australia.
