THG calls for statutory easements on small lots

Introducing statutory easements on small lots could boost Queensland's property sector, THG has claimed.

Australian property advisory group THG has called on the Queensland state government to introduce statutory easements on small lots for developers.

This reduction in red tape regarding the titling of small lots would go a long way towards boosting the overall property sector in the state, the organisation noted.

A significant increase in the number of small lot developments has been witnessed in recent months, Australian Property Investor (API) reports.

THG director Peter Sippel told the news provider: "This means small lot owners with freehold titles who have the requirement to build on the boundary line are faced with creating a myriad of easements to cover the rights to support, shelter, drainage, access and so on."

Earlier this month, API reported the Queensland local authority announced the scrapping of a number of unnecessary regulations within the construction sector.

These included a range of triggers for applications to be referred to state agencies in the future.
