The building charge is being spearheaded in Brighton, Kingston, Huonville and the North-West Coast, the Tasmania Mercury reported.
For the three months to March, new Australian houses completed rose by five per cent at a total worth of more than AUS$576.3 million (£335 million).
Nationally, activity in the new Australian home sector grew by under one per cent, the ABS figures revealed.
"The whole North-West area has blossomed and the amount of development across Burnie, Ulverstone and Devonport has been stunning, particularly considering people struggled to get a loan to build in the region 10 years ago," commented Housing Industry Association executive director Stuart Clues.
Tasmania is now bouncing back from a decline and is one of only four states to record a surge in Australian home building, he added.
This increase in residential construction will need to continue if the growth rate in Australia is to be coped with.
Over the next 40 years, the population is expected to hit 36 million, according to the Population Reference Bureau.
