The main reason for this is to achieve a better work life balance, according to the poll of bosses by Foreign Currency Direct.
Two out of five said they would emigrate to avoid looming tax rises and a third think their business would be more profitable abroad.
Australian properties, as well as those in New Zealand, would be the new homes of choice, the survey added.
"Given the state of the UK economy it's hardly surprising that so many self-employed people are considering moving their business interests abroad," commented company director Stephen Hughes.
A poll of estate agents in Melbourne has highlighted the increasing numbers of foreign nationals buying Australian property in the city.
The Age revealed that people were making the most of relaxed investment laws.
