Australian property developer Nigel Satterly is attempting to alleviate housing stress in Perth by encouraging people to build their own homes.
The Satterly Property Group (SPG) hopes to offer a boost to property investment in Western Australia (WA) by working in conjunction with 20 local builders, reports the Sunday Times.
Mr Satterly described rent in the state as "outrageously high", pointing out that some occupants could be paying 30 per cent of their weekly income on accommodation.
"Instead, you can build a brand new home and be far better off. Your new home, costing as little as $290,000 (£190,500), will increase in value over time," added the property developer.
The Better Times Better Build campaign will offer a variety of incentives for WA homebuilders, such as cheaper prices on home and land packages.
SPG, founded in 1980, is the largest privately-owned property development company in WA. It specialises in residential building and has carried out more than 130 projects across the state.
