Queensland 'contains high number of property hotspots'

Queensland contains a great number of property hotspots, a panel of experts has claimed.

Those looking for Australian property hotspots should turn their attentions to Queensland, it has been suggested.

A panel of experts was carefully selected by API magazine to compile a list of the top 100 locations across the country in which to buy property.

Some 27 locations from within Queensland made the much-anticipated list, along with 25 from New South Wales.

The experts chose the locations based on their potential not only for short-term capital growth, but also for the medium and long-term gains.

In Victoria, 19 locations took their place in the magazine's Hot 100 list, compared to 14 in Western Australia and 11 locations in South Australia.

Earlier this month, a report from the Australian Bureau of Statistics revealed that the population of Queensland increased by 797,000 between 2001 and June of last year.

This could explain why Australian property in the north-eastern state has increased in popularity.
