Qantas Frequent Flyers have been given additional chances to grow their Qantas Points by shopping at Woolworths.
This comes as part of wider changes to the Woolworths Rewards program, which were announced yesterday (August 22nd).
Frequent Flyers will now be able to earn Woolworths Points on every dollar spent in-store or online at Woolworths Supermarkets or Beer, Wine, Spirits (BWS).
The new rules will be implemented from August 31st - although there are some products on which members will not earn points, such as gift cards, tobacco and mobile recharge.
However, Woolworths Points will be available on fuel purchases at 530 Caltex Woolworths petrol sites up and down the country. Caltex Woolworths fuel outlets with a Star Mart or Star Shop on site are exempt from this offer.
Special offers will periodically be run, giving customers the chance to increase their earn rate.
Lesley Grant, chief executive officer of Qantas Loyalty, predicted that the 11 million members of the Frequent Flyer initiative will be happy with the improvements to the scheme.
"Qantas is very pleased to continue its relationship with Woolworths and to give our shared customers more ways to be rewarded when they spend," she commented.
Ms Grant explained that the possibility of earning more points with every dollar spent will make a big difference to how Frequent Flyers are able to increase their points balance, as a weekly shop will make a contribution to their next holiday.
"This is especially the case when you factor in all the other ways our members can earn Qantas Points, ranging from health insurance to flying," she remarked.
"The opportunity to earn points when you buy petrol has been improved," Ms Grant said, noting that members will now be able to earn points and use a discount card in the same transaction, without the need to choose one or the other.
