Piano breaks record

If you thought the Sydney property market was in bad shape, think again! With a new record price paid for this apartment next to Sydney Opera House, it shows how resilient the Sydney market is, particulalrly in the top end luxury property.
A rare piano-shaped apartment with uninterrupted views of Sydney harbor has sold at auction for a record price.

The three bedroom apartment in the building known as "The Toaster" - which overlooks Circular Quay and has views of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Opera House and Harbour Bridge - sold for $8.4 million.

Given that the internal area is 190 square metres, the sale price works out to about $44,120 per square metre, a record even for a Sydney apartment, according to the selling agency.
