New Victoria-China engagement strategy announced

A new agreement has been signed between China and the Victorian government to boost trade and investment.

The Property Council of Australia (PCA) has backed the signing of a new engagement strategy between the governments of Victoria and China.

As part of the initiative, the scheme will focus on broadening collaboration in a number of key areas, including business, personal and cultural links.

It will also expand trade between the state and the Asian nation, with the aim of opening new markets for goods and increasing levels of investment.

The announcement came on the eve of Victorian premier Ted Bailleau's trade mission to China last week, with representatives from approximately 400 Victorian organisations visiting 13 cities across China in the coming weeks in a bid to boost trade links.

Last week, the PCA highlighted the closure of a consultation regarding the Victorian government's plans for zoning reform in the state.

A document highlighting the key concerns surrounding the move will now be published by November 30th.
