RMIT University in Melbourne has completed work on the new Lyons' Swanston Academic Building, one of the most striking new Australian property developments of recent years.
Designed by architect Sean Godsell, the 11-storey building features the latest in connectivity technology and ensures that the students and staff who use the structure were put at the forefront of the designer's thinking.
"We wanted the building to be interactive, as well as connecting to the street and other parts of the campus,'' commented Professor Ian Palmer, pro vice-chancellor of the Business College and vice-president of RMIT University.
A unique and intriguing structure, the facade is adorned with thousands of anodised aluminium panels attached at numerous angles to create a delight for the senses when beholding.
Meanwhile, The Age reported recently that construction of the new Prima Pearl tower in Melbourne is now underway. The 72-storey development will provide apartments in the Southbank area and features a unique oval design.
