4,500 new Australian properties are to be built in six north shore suburbs in Sydney, it has been reported.
Planning minister Tony Kelly gave the plans the green light, the Sydney Morning Herald stated.
The Ku-ring-gai Town Centres Local Environment Plan will pave the way for developments of around six storeys near railway stations and transform small strip shopping centres.
Some 14 new heritage conservation areas will protect valuable Australian properties, Mr Kelly added.
"'Placing the majority of new dwellings in existing town centres, close to public transport and other services, also ensures that the remainder of the local government area will retain its existing character," he commented.
New South Wales is set to see strong growth in the coming decades, with government projections suggesting big increases in inland and coastal areas.
Central Sydney is also predicted to boom in the next 25 years, highlighting the need for Australian property building.
