More people are paying Australian income tax in Victoria as the state's job market has grown.
Figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics have revealed that 93,500 new jobs have been created since the Brumby Labor government's efforts to improve employment began on July 1st last year.
Treasurer John Lenders explained that the government is working to inject record amounts of investment into job-creating infrastructure to fight off the impact of the global economic downturn.
"The Brumby Labor government is providing strong leadership in tough global economic times to steer Victoria through and build for the future," he commented.
Of the jobs created in the past ten months, more than half were full-time positions.
Country-wide, nearly two-thirds of the full-time jobs created were located in Victoria, which is also likely to have boosted the Australian property sector in the state.
Figures from the Australian National University have revealed that the top earners in Australia have increased their share of income in the past three decades, widening the gap between those who pay less Australian income tax.
