Housing project completed in Victoria

A housing project to help a homeless family has been completed in Melbourne.

The Housing Industry Association (HIA) has revealed completion of a project in Melbourne's western district to help a family that was left homeless.

A development carried out by Victorian Homeless Fund has been handed over to the new owners, with the project overseen by the Womens Property Initiative and supported by the Melbourne City Mission.

Victorian Homeless Fund chairman Rodney Ord commented: "This and many of our other projects would not be possible if it was not for the generosity of all the contributors."

He added that the land for the scheme was kindly donated by the Victorian government and noted that in such tough economic times, it is still good to see so much willingness to assist those who are left in vulnerable circumstances.

Earlier this month, the prestigious HIA-CSR Victorian Home of the Year award was announced, with Visioneer Builders' three-storey Middle Park renovation project receiving the top honour for 2012.
