DIAC releases guidelines for Enterprise Migration Agreements

The DIAC has announced the release of submission guidelines for Enterprise Migration Agreements in Australia.
Contractors and project owners are set to benefit from the release of submission guidelines for Enterprise Migration Agreements today (September 6th).

The Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) has carried out the move to inform employment groups about eligible resources developments.

A departmental spokesperson stated that the agreements will be made to ensure the workforce needs of resource industries are met to make sure projects are not placed under constraints as a result of skills shortages.

In addition, negotiations for the approval of the employment of overseas workers will be complete within three months of applying to speed up the process for project leaders.

"Overseas workers will only be supplementary, with resources projects required to demonstrate effective and ongoing local recruitment and training efforts," the spokesperson added.

Last month, the DIAC reported the prosecution of a Perth man who was convicted for migration fraud and illegally supplying foreign workers to local businesses.
