The amount of a certain material used in the construction of properties in Australia increased in November, new figures have shown.
Data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics shows that 2.13 million sq m of pre-mixed concrete was produced in November.
This is an increase of 70,000 sq m from the 2.06 million sq m produced in October.
It also represents a 100,000 sq m increase on the 2.03 million sq m that were produced in November of 2008.
As for plasterboard, however, the amount of this material produced in November was 14 million sq m, compared to the 14.25 million sq m produced in October.
Back in November 2009, just 12.5 million sq m of plasterboard were produced in Australia.
The decrease in the production of this construction material could be seen to support recent claims from the Housing Industry Association that 22,000 too-few Australian properties were built in 2009/10.
