The number of Australian property owners making use of broadband internet services has gone up substantially in recent times, new figures have suggested.
In the past year, nearly one million more of the country's households have subscribed to broadband internet services, meaning that more than 7.5 million now have access to them, the Broadband Report from iSelect shows.
On a monthly basis, 368 million gigabytes of data are being downloaded nationally, the organisation's statistics also highlighted.
Commenting on the findings of the research, Charlie Brown, blogger and technology expert, noted some of the purposes that broadband is being for by Australian property owners.
He stated: "This research found that two-thirds of Australians now rely on the internet to keep in touch with their relatives and friends, and social media is growing at a rapid pace, even amongst older internet users."
Internet users were recently encouraged by uSwitch.com to tackle the problem of online spam by investing in broadband services which offer them spam filters.
