The government of south Australia is playing on the poor job prospects of Brit graduates in an attempt to get them to study in the country, bolstered by University College London's recent opening of a campus in Adelaide.
However, British students will still have to pay fees of between £6,000 and £10,000, similar to UK rates.
Bill Muirhead, South Australia's London-based agent general, said that Australia has the "added extras" of better weather, more job opportunities and improved quality of life.
"It's survival of the fittest and, with the state's economic strength and amazing lifestyle, we're picking off the talent ourselves," he added.
An influx of British students will see population numbers rising further, following recent figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics which showed that it had risen by 2.1 per cent in the year to September.
