Figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) have highlighted improving dental health among Aussies in recent years.
ABS director of health statistics Louise Gates revealed 49 per cent of Australians aged 15 and over visited a dentist in the last 12 months, with 90 per cent of this group choosing to go private.
She commented: "People aged 25 to 34 were the most likely to delay seeing or not see a dental professional because of cost with 31 per cent, compared with five per cent for those aged 75 years and over."
Ms Gates added that a total of 14.6 million Aussies underwent dental care this year, with 20 per cent seen within four hours of making an appointment.
Earlier this month, the ABS showed increasing life expectancy for those born across Australia in 2012. A boy born this year will likely live to the ripe old age of 79.7, while a girl will typically live to 84.2 years.
